Traditional Chinese Medicine in Calgary, AB

Dr. Emma Dolan, R.Ac

Hello! I’m Emma Dolan, a devoted Acupuncturist and practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

I am greatly inspired by the magic and beauty of this ancient medicine, and I aspire to bring these qualities into my practice and treatments.

My education began with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, as I have always had a fascination with the intricacies of the human body. After having my own experience with the healing powers of acupuncture, my fascination with TCM began. This brought me to Vancouver Island, where in 2016 I completed my acupuncture training at the esteemed Pacific Rim College in Victoria, BC.

In the last 8 years, my practice has evolved as my training has led to a focus on all areas of women’s health. In an area where I feel there is lack of support, I am honoured to offer treatment

for conditions such as PMS/PMDD, fertility, PCOS, hormonal imbalances, peri/menopausal issues, painful/irregular menstruation, and pre/post natal care.

I also have a clinic focus in mental health, treating stress, anxiety, and depression, with additional training in trauma and PTSD specifically. Using modalities including acupuncture, fire cupping, auricular therapy, gua sha, nutritional therapy, and lifestyle advice based on TCM, I have found profound healing and wonderful results in treating these focuses.

As an advocate for holistic wellness, I encourage my patients to embrace a balanced lifestyle that encompasses physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I create personalized treatment plans, addressing the root cause of imbalance rather than only treating symptoms for lasting health improvements.

I am very excited to bring my heart-entered practice to Calgary, and cannot wait to embark on your healing journey with you.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine practice involving the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body (acu points) to stimulate energy flow, aiming to balance the body's vital energy (Qi).

It is used for pain management, stress reduction, and issues such as anxiety, depression, digestive disorders, insomnia, respiratory conditions, infertility, autoimmune conditions and so much more.

Fire Cupping

Fire cupping is a traditional therapeutic technique that involves placing heated glass cups on the skin. The cups create suction as the air inside cools, which draws the skin and underlying tissue into the cup.

This suction stimulates blood flow, release muscle tension, and promote healing.

Along with pain relief, cupping helps in inflammation reduction, detoxification, stress reduction, relaxation, respiratory issues and promotes the free flow of Qi.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Other modalities within the scope of TCM include Moxabustion (burning mugwort), Gua Sha (scraping), Tui Na (Chinese massage), Herbal Medicine, Shi Liao (dietary therapy), Five Element Theory, and other lifestyle recommendations based on Traditional Chinese Medicine theory to promote balance and healing.

With a focus on:

  • Women’s Health/Gynecology
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Stress/Anxiety/Mental Disorders
  • Digestive Disorders
  • Fertility Issues
  • Menopause Support

Reviews from Patients

Emma truly has a healing touch. I have been seeing her regularly for over 6 years, and she has helped me with a number of issues since that time. She will figure out exactly what you need and treat you for it. If you’re open to learning more about traditional Chinese medicine, she is a wealth of knowledge. Acupuncture is something I won’t give up . Thanks Emma for being so amazing.

Emma has the most soothing presence- you will feel calm and relaxed before she does anything! After treatment, you can feel the difference - Emma knows how to get to the heart of the problem and deals with it. Highly recommend Emma as an extremely competent and knowledgeable healer.

After being diagnosed with a condition that causes chronic pain, I was referred to Emma from my Naturopathic Doctor. This was my first experience with TCM and I did not know what to expect. After the first treatment, Emma was able to reduce my overall pain, stress, fix my energy levels and help my immune system. Now that I have discovered Chinese medicine, I will never go without it!
